History of Jesus People SF

Jesus People SF was founded at the very start of the Covid Pandemic in March of 2020.

Nate, a seminarian at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY decided to put God to the test, and see what could happen if someone tooks risks and moved with no fundraising and working full time to plant a church in Haight-Ashbury, San Francsico California.

Nate had aimed to land in SF since beginning seminary in 2017, and in the process of researching the history of the area learned Haight-Ashbury was the original site of the revival known as the "Jesus People Movement" parallel to the hippie movement of 1967.

Nate found an apartment in July of 2020 in Upper-Haight, also known as Haight-Ashbury, and began to meet neighbors and start the work of getting a gathering together.

In the process Nate started a 501c3 in October 2020 to have as a financial back-end. Meanwhile the Lord laid the groundwork for the theology of the church in the realized-eschaton. The time when last days is less 'armchair theologian' and more lived-experience.

The neighbors of "the haight" were welcoming, but resistant to Christian ministry in the neighborhood.

Health issues prevented Nate from continuing to minister directly in haight-ashbury, but the web ministry of Jesus People SF continues.

The theology God provided Nate during the pandemic, when assemblies were legally barred in California and San Francisco from meeting during COVID led to Nate to publish a book on solo-christianity.

Solo-Christianity is a faithful and necessary itteration of Christian piety as the Old Testament prophets were often required to dwell alone.

New Testament Christians are no less faithful for practicing solo-Christianity during seasons of apostasy in Christendom just as the prophets during the less-faithful seasons of Judiasm.
